The site

Mỹ Sơn is a cluster of abandoned Shaiva Hindu temples in a valley of central Vietnam, raised between the 4th and 13th centuries by the kings of Champa. Ringed by two mountain ranges, the complex once held over seventy brick temples and served as a place of royal ceremony and burial. The shrines honor Shiva under local names, above all Bhadreshvara, and stand near the old Cham capitals of Simhapura and Indrapura.
