The site

The House of Taga is a Chamorro site near San Jose Village on the island of Tinian, in the Northern Mariana Islands. It preserves a row of prehistoric latte stone pillars, quarried more than a kilometre to the south, of which only one still stands erect after past earthquakes toppled the rest. Local tradition credits a legendary chief named Taga with raising the columns as the foundation of his own dwelling.
