The site

Dahshur is an ancient Egyptian pyramid complex and necropolis on the Western Desert plateau, part of the great pyramid fields of Memphis alongside Saqqara, Abusir and Giza. It is known chiefly for Sneferu's Bent Pyramid and Red Pyramid, built around 2613 to 2589 BCE and among the oldest, largest and best-preserved in Egypt. The site sits on the edge of the cultivated plain and is listed by UNESCO.
