The site

Skara Brae is a stone-built Neolithic village clustered along the Bay of Skaill on Orkney's Mainland, occupied from roughly 3180 to 2500 BCE. A storm stripped away the dunes to reveal ten houses and four passageways, complete with stone furniture and fixtures still standing in place. It is Europe's most complete Neolithic village and part of the World Heritage-listed Heart of Neolithic Orkney.
