The site

Edzná, meaning House of the Itzaes, is a Maya archaeological site in the north of Campeche, Mexico, inhabited from around 400 BCE until roughly 1500 CE. Its most remarkable building is the main temple, raised on a 40-metre platform that commands a wide view of the surrounding lowlands. A ball court of two parallel structures also survives, and in the Late Classic period Edzná fell within the orbit of the Calakmul polity.
