The site

Deir el-Bahari is an Egyptian complex of mortuary temples and tombs carved into the west bank of the Nile, directly opposite Luxor. Part of the sprawling Theban Necropolis, it rose against a natural amphitheatre of cliffs beginning around 2050 BCE. A UNESCO World Heritage site, it remains one of the most dramatic funerary landscapes of the ancient world.
