The site

Casa Grande Ruins National Monument in Arizona preserves a massive earthen tower built by the Hohokam people, who farmed the desert with irrigation canals. Occupied from around 1200 to 1450 CE, its four-story Great House of caliche mud still rises above the surrounding dwellings. Protected as a monument since 1892, Casa Grande draws around 175,000 visitors a year to one of North America's most remarkable adobe structures.
