The site

Trowulan is the site of a city of the Majapahit realm on Java, occupied from around 1293 to 1500 CE and now on Indonesia's tentative World Heritage list. Its scattered temple ruins and remains mark what is identified as a capital of the Majapahit state. As a rare urban survival from this Javanese kingdom, Trowulan offers a window onto one of Southeast Asia's great late-medieval powers.
