The site
The Rock Carvings in Tanum are a concentration of European Bronze Age petroglyphs in western Sweden, pecked into the rock between roughly 1800 and 500 BCE. Across the panels appear figures, boats and scenes cut by the people who lived here over more than a millennium. The site is inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, valued as one of the great records of Bronze Age imagery in northern Europe.
