The site

Mohenjo-daro, the "Mound of the Dead Men," rises in the Larkana District of Sindh, Pakistan, built around 2500 BCE. It was one of the largest settlements of the Indus Valley Civilisation and among the world's earliest major cities, contemporary with Egypt and Mesopotamia. Home to perhaps 40,000 people before its abandonment by about 1700 BCE, it was rediscovered in the 1920s and became the first UNESCO World Heritage Site in South Asia.
