The site
Dholavira is a ruined Indus Valley city at Khadirbet in the Kutch District of Gujarat, western India, known locally as Kotada timba. One of the great urban centres of that civilization, it flourished with cisterns and walls between roughly 3000 and 1500 BCE. Earthquakes repeatedly struck the site, including a severe one around 2600 BCE, and it now sits on UNESCO's tentative list.
