The site

Dougga, ancient Thugga, is a Berber, Punic and Roman settlement near Téboursouk in northern Tunisia, occupied from around 400 BCE to 700 CE. UNESCO calls it the best-preserved Roman small town in North Africa, its 75 hectares spared the rebuilding that consumed cities like Carthage. Standing in open countryside, it is famous for its Libyco-Punic mausoleum, the Capitol, a Roman theatre, and temples of Saturn and Juno Caelestis.
