The site

Troy is an ancient city in north-western Anatolia, in present-day Turkey, occupied over an immense span from around 3000 BCE into the first centuries CE. Its mound holds layers of successive settlements linked to the Hittite and Mycenaean worlds and to the story of the Trojan War. That deep stratigraphy and its place in myth and early archaeology earned Troy its UNESCO World Heritage listing.
