The site

Teotihuacan is an ancient Mesoamerican city in a sub-valley of the Valley of Mexico, occupied from around 100 BCE to 650 CE, long before the Aztecs who later marveled at it. It holds some of the most architecturally significant pyramids of the pre-Columbian Americas, above all the Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon. At its height it was the largest city in the Americas, home to perhaps 100,000 people across eight square miles.
