The site

Saqsaywaman is an Inca citadel on the northern edge of Cusco, Peru, standing above the old imperial capital at some 3,700 meters. Its most astonishing feature is its dry-stone walls, built from colossal boulders cut and fitted so tightly that no mortar was needed. Inca oral history credited its construction to Pachacuti and his successors; today it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
