The site

Pachacámac is a sprawling archaeological site in the Lurín Valley about 40 km southeast of Lima, Peru, first settled around 200 CE. Named for the creator god Pacha Kamaq, the "Earth Maker," it was a major sanctuary of temples and ceremonial pyramids that flourished for some 1,300 years under Wari and later Inca influence. Covering roughly 600 hectares, it endured until the Spanish invasion of 1533.
