The site
Yeha is a town in the northern Tigray region of Ethiopia and one of the oldest centers of the pre-Aksumite world, with occupation reaching back before 800 BCE. It likely served as the capital of the kingdom of Dʿmt, and its remains include a monumental temple and a palace. On Ethiopia's UNESCO tentative list, Yeha stands among the earliest known monuments of civilization in the Horn of Africa.
