The site
The Valle dei Templi, or Valley of the Temples, is a Greek archaeological site at Agrigento in Sicily, once the ancient city of Akragas. It is among the finest surviving examples of Greek art and architecture in Magna Graecia, ranged along a ridge rather than a true valley. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site drawing nearly a million visitors a year, its 1,300-hectare park is the largest archaeological park in Europe and the Mediterranean basin.
