The site

Tiwanaku is a pre-Columbian city in western Bolivia near Lake Titicaca, one of the largest archaeological sites in South America and the heart of the Tiwanaku civilization. Surface remains still cover roughly four square kilometers, studded with monumental structures, megalithic blocks, and decorated ceramics. At its height around AD 800 it may have held 10,000 to 20,000 people, and this UNESCO World Heritage Site was long believed to sit at the center of the world.
