The site
Rakhigarhi is a village and archaeological site of the Indus Valley Civilisation in Haryana, northern India, about 150 km northwest of Delhi on the Ghaggar River plain. Occupied across pre-Harappan, early Harappan and mature phases from roughly 3300 to 1500 BCE, it ranks among the five largest settlements of the ancient civilisation. Its integrated mounds spread across some 80 to 100 hectares, with a separate mound serving as a cemetery.
