The site
Medinet Habu is an Egyptian temple complex at the foot of the Theban Hills on the West Bank of the Nile, opposite Luxor. Its heart is the great mortuary temple of Ramesses III, the largest and best preserved structure on the site, built in the 12th century BCE. It is best known for the carved reliefs recording the coming and defeat of the so-called Sea Peoples during Ramesses III's reign, including the Battle of the Delta, making it a vital source for the turbulent end of the New Kingdom.
