The site

The Thracian Tomb of Kazanlak is a vaulted brickwork 'beehive' tomb from the fourth century BCE, set near Kazanlak in central Bulgaria. It belongs to a vast royal Thracian necropolis in the Valley of the Thracian Rulers, near the ancient capital of Seuthopolis, where more than a thousand tombs are known. The small chamber's Hellenistic wall paintings survive as Bulgaria's finest, and the site has been UNESCO-listed since 1979.
