The site

Dendera is a small town on the west bank of the Nile in Upper Egypt, home to the Dendera Temple complex, one of the best-preserved temple sites surviving from the ancient world. In antiquity it was Iunet, capital of the Sixth Nome of Upper Egypt. Occupied across centuries into the Roman era, its sanctuaries and temple buildings still stand in remarkable condition.
