The site

Carrowmore is a large cluster of megalithic monuments on the Coolera Peninsula west of Sligo, Ireland, raised during the 4th millennium BCE in the Neolithic. Thirty tombs survive, with another twenty-five destroyed since 1800, making it one of the largest megalithic cemeteries in Ireland. This protected National Monument sits at the heart of an ancient ritual landscape dominated by the nearby mountain of Knocknarea.
