The site

Huaca Rajada, also called Sipan, is a Moche ceremonial site in the Lambayeque Valley of northern Peru, occupied between roughly 50 and 700 CE. It is famous for the tomb of the Lord of Sipan, a richly furnished burial excavated by Walter Alva and Susana Meneses from 1987. The find ranks among the most important discoveries in Andean archaeology, revealing the wealth and ritual world of Moche elites.
