The site

Kalibangan is an Indus Valley Civilization site on the southern bank of the Ghaggar River in Rajasthan, India, identified as a major provincial capital. It is famous for its unique fire altars and for what excavators called the world's earliest attested ploughed field. First recognised by Luigi Tessitori and excavated by the Archaeological Survey of India, it developed into a planned city around 2900 BCE.
