The site

The Heuneburg is a Celtic hilltown in southern Germany, occupied from roughly 700 to 400 BCE during the Early Iron Age. As one of the principal fortified settlements north of the Alps, it offers archaeologists a window onto early urban life in Celtic central Europe, well before the classical Mediterranean world's influence reached the region.
