The site
Liangzhu is an ancient walled city in the Yangtze River Delta of China, the political and spiritual heart of the Neolithic Liangzhu culture. Occupied through the late fourth and third millennia BCE, it ranks among the great early urban centres of the region. Its remains offer a rare window into one of China's most sophisticated prehistoric societies.
